Thrifty White is committed to providing healthcare to small towns and cities in the rural midwest that range from 1,000 to 90,000 in population.

In 2003 Thrifty White opened it's first telepharmacy site. This concept allows a trained, certified and experienced pharmacy technician to fill and dispense prescription medications after being verified by a pharmacist over an audio-video link. This arrangement allows a community to continue pharmacy services even though the local drugstore has closed or the community is too small to support a traditional drug store. This technology allows patients to receive their medicine while they wait and still be able to talk to a pharmacist.

Thrifty White Drug currently operates 4 Telepharmacy Stores in communities that otherwise would have no prescription services. We are committed to providing healthcare services to small rural communities wherever possible.

Our commitment to our community starts with our local store employee owner. Many of our pharmacists have chosen to live and work in towns and communities similar to where they were born and raised.

Thrifty White is working closely with the College of Pharmacy at North Dakota State University and its pharmacy students. Today the University and Thrifty White have opened the "Thrifty White Concept Pharmacy" to provide students with an environment and unique experience that they would not be able to get in any other school in the country.

The Concept Pharmacy emphasizes a retail community pharmacy practice. Students from all four years of the professionial program study and experience the latest techniques in such areas as drug distribution systems, telepharmacy, automation, nursing home practice, disease state management and patient education.

Our History - Over 120 Years Of Service

Thrifty White Drug is comprised of two major companies: White Drug Enterprises and Thrifty Drug Stores, Inc.

White Drug was founded in 1884 by Mr. and Mrs. H.E.White in Jamestown in what was then the Dakota Territory. Mrs. White was the first female pharmacist in the Territory. White Drug continued to grow over the years and had 38 stores when acquired by the parent company, Thrifty Drug Stores, Inc in 1985.	1st H.E. White Drug Store in Jamestown, North Dakota

Thrifty Drug was founded in 1957 by Mr. Douglas Stark, Mr. Jack Lindoo and Mr. Edward Olsen.
Store #1 for Thrifty Drug Stores was located in Brainerd, MN. Today Thrifty White Drug's center of competitive commitment remains the rural midwest, with over 70+ locations in Minnesota, North Dakota, Iowa, Montana and Wisconsin. The company's primary focus is pharmacy business along with associated drug store operations. The pharmacy, health aids, cosmetics, photo, giftware and greeting card departments are the core departments the business is built around.

We are a company that is owned by the employees. There are no outside shareholders that own the stock only as an investment. Thrifty White believes its greatest asset is loyal, hard-working people who cooperate in a spirit of teamwork to help the company grow and prosper. We also strongly believe in helping the communities we do business in. Our store managers, pharmacists, and hourly people are all expected to contribute to the community in whatever way they can. Our goal is to be the drug store of choice, to be the best drug store in each town we operate in.
